Welcome to the 29th issue of Lit*er*al*ly, Ororo, a weekly blog by me, Ororo Munroe, speaking my truth inspired by the 3000 Questions About Me journal. I mean, it’s a personal blog. And since I’ll be sharing all my personal bits, why not do so in the not-so-typical form of questions? Thanks for reading. Participation is encouraged.
331. What has required you to put constant thought into it?
Finding the mental and physical energy to market my side biz and finding ways to do it without social media. Apparently, IG went down recently, and I didn’t even notice. LOL. I’m so over being on social media. I only have an FB account for my biz, and I can’t tell you the last time I posted on there. I also have a biz IG account and for the longest time, I wasn’t sure what to post on there. Now, I think I’ll just create one of those 9-grid things and keep it movin’. It’s just so much work and I noticed that people in my industry are either really active or they hardly post.
332. If you were comfortably rich, would you work hard for more or rest on your laurels?
Oh, I’d definitely rest on my laurels. Espesh if they were in Costa Rica. And if working hard meant investing more money so that I can live off monthly dividend checks.
333. Who is your favorite actress whose name begins with the letter “J”?
Jennifer Garner. I REALLY loved her on that show, Alias. She was SO badass. I love that she—and Bradley Cooper!—started out doing that TV series and now she’s a big-time movie star. I love her movies, especially when she does badass ones like Peppermint and Daredevil. I’d like to see her do more movies like that.
334. What is the hardest personal goal you’ve set for yourself?
Transitioning to a whole-food, plant-based diet. I made that vow to myself when I turned 50. I’ll be 53 in June and I’m nowhere near where I want to be. I think once I get my own place, I’ll be able to focus more on myself.
335. Do you operate with the motto, “It’s my way or the highway?” Does it work for you?
BWAHA. Oh hell no. It’s not in my personality to think like that. And I don’t think I could live with someone who lived by that motto. As if!
336. What’s the last thing you’ve done that you were really proud of?
I completed a copyediting project for one of my sister’s BFF’s. It’s a devotional journal, I think? LOL She used a lot of Bible verses but was also paraphrasing those verses. So, it was an interesting project.
337. Would you win more money on Jeopardy! Or Wheel of Fortune?
Wheel of Fortune is more my speed because it’s not really trivia, just buying vowels.
338. What are you really lazy about?
Putting away clean clothes—well, let’s get real here—laundry in general, cleaning, cooking, calling people back (even if it’s family and close friends), and Sundays.
339. Have you ever used the phrase “back in my time” with someone younger than you?
BWAHA. My parents do. I do not. I use the phrase, “back in the day” or even more jokingly, “back in ancient times.”
340. Who is better, Mario or Sonic?
Neither. I did play video games “back in the day”—we had Atari. Remember that?—but I never played these. Unfortunately, I have no comparison.
341. What do you think is one of the biggest cons about being famous?
Only one? I feel there’s a whole list of cons when it comes to being famous, but I think the biggest one is lack of privacy. I wouldn’t want the paps all up in my grill. As an Empathic Introvert that would be my worst fuckin’ nightmare.
342. Has anyone or anything specific ever made you feel inferior? If so, what?
Well, I’m black. And a woman. To some, that’s two strikes. So, yes, there have been incidents.
343. Do you think stay-at-home mothers should be paid a salary?
FUCK. YES. Motherhood is a thankless job. And they should get million-dollar bonuses when significant others cheat, come home to expect the house to be in perfect shape, or come home and don’t help with caretaking duties. #ReasonnumbereleventykamillionwhyIneverhadkids
344. Where would be the scariest place to get lost?
1896-1950. I’m going to leave this here and let you figure out why.
345. Besides a pickle, what is your favorite thing that’s pickled?
There would be nothing else. Pickles are the only thing that should be pickled.
It’s your turn. This inquiring mind wants to know your answers to these burning questions.
Lit*er*al*ly Ororo is free today. But if you enjoyed this post, you can tell me that my writing is fucking awesomesauce by pledging a future subscription. You won't be charged unless I enable payments.
Congrats on the devotional journal. That’s awesome. I totally say “back in the day” and “back in my day” too. “Kids these days” has become a regular in the rotation lately too. Becoming my grandparents at a way faster rate than I thought 😂
The devotional journal sounds wonderful.
I'm lazy when it comes to socializing or going out to dinner. I'd much rather cook. My mom would rather go out; she's too lazy to cook. I guess lazy has a different meaning for everyone. Hehe.
I really hope J-Garn is over her ex. Can't imagine constantly seeing your ex and his new wife on the sides of buses and magazine covers.
