Welcome to the 37th issue of Lit*er*al*ly, Ororo, a weekly blog by me, Ororo Munroe, speaking my truth inspired by the 3000 Questions About Me journal. I mean, it’s a personal blog. And since I’ll be sharing all my personal bits, why not do so in the not-so-typical form of questions? Thanks for reading. Participation is encouraged.
436. Do you like energy drinks? If so, which is your favorite?
No. not a fan. It’s all fake-sugar-piss to me, honestly.
437. Could you fire someone you’re friends with if it was your job to do so?
I would like to preface this by saying that I would never “work with” my friends. In the Corporate Hell Job-sense of working. From that side of things, yes, I would. Espesh if they were royally fucking things up and making me look bad for trusting them sort of thing.
Now, if I was freelance “collabing” or partnering with them on a project and things weren’t working out, I would definitely make an internal note of that and then really have to think about whether I would want to work with them in that capacity again. Like, the money would have to make it worth it.
438. How many people have you dated?
One. And then I ended up marrying him. BWAHA! There was one other guy before him, but I didn’t really consider it dating (because that would mean we actually went out and did date-like things. And we didn’t). My only excuse is that I was/am very picky about men. And by the time I’d met Mr. Ex, I was pretty much done with dating and was just letting the universe make things happen.
439. Whom do you trust the most in your life?
My female BFF. And I know it’s weird that I distinguish between male and female. I have two best friends that I’ve known 30+ years (each)… one’s male, the other is female. I’ve known the man since childhood and the woman since my early college days. But I talk to her more than I talk to him. I can talk to her about anything, and she’ll give it to me straight and even though she’s known me and my family for so long, she’s not blood-tied; so, her opinions/feedback/advice is like coming from an unbiased third-party
440. Have you had a strange encounter that you can’t explain, or are scared to share?
Huh. Not that I can think of.
441. What questions would you ask the older residents if you were visiting a nursing home?
I would just ask them about their lives. I would imagine that would segue into any stories they had to tell, but I think we can learn SO MUCH from the older generation. I learn something new about my Dad’s side of the family all the time. And I learned a lot from my gramma (my mother’s mother) when she was alive, too.
442. Have you ever used the opposite-sex restroom in an emergency? If not, would you?
In 2022, our family reunion was in DC and we were walking The Mall toward the Lincoln Memorial. If you’ve been, you know there’s a bathroom right before you hit the Long Mile Lawn that takes you to the memorial. The line for the women’s bathroom was so long, but there wasn’t really one for the men. Other women were doing it and I had to go REALLY bad (I mean, you’re walking for HOURS around that place), so I went in, and Sis stood nearby to keep watch. LOL
443. Do you read the labels on the food you buy—or do you just buy what you like?
I do read the labels. Mostly to see if there’s any nuts since I’m allergic.
444. What is the craziest thing you’ve ever asked Siri?
Since I don’t have Siri, I don’t ask anything.
445. In what way do you pamper yourself?
Spa days on my birthday and lately, just taking Me Days to do stuff.
446. Do you like rap music? If so, who is your favorite rapper?
I like rap music, but I don’t have a favorite. I have several rappers on my iPod, but not many since alternative music is my preferred genre of choice.
447. If you were a psychologist, whom would you love to get on your couch for conversations?
JLo. I’d want to know what’s with all the men in her life. And then her children in a separate session. I’d love to know how they feel about the revolving door of men in their mother’s life. I guess Ben’s the lucky dude this time around. For now. I have a feeling her kids are going to have relationship issues (read: lack of commitment) of their own when they get older.
448. Would you prefer either a chauffeur or private chef for one month as a gift?
Oh man, private chef definitely. She (or he) could get me on either a WFPB (whole food plant-based) or the Mediterranean plan and then create an in-depth, comprehensive meal plan that I could follow. More than likely, though, I’d try to find a way to keep this chef making my meals. LOL
449. Do you believe in psychics and their abilities?
Yes. Most definitely. My Dad’s mother had visions and both my sister, and her daughter seem to have an “otherworldly” sense of things.
450. What charity holds a special place in your heart?
826 National. Because when I was getting my nonprofit degree, I was doing it to bring a similar business model to my hometown. So, whenever I get to that good financial place within my biznass, I plan to regularly donate to this organization.
It’s your turn. This inquiring mind wants to know your answers to these burning questions.
Lit*er*al*ly Ororo is free today. But if you enjoyed this post, you can tell me that my writing is fucking awesomesauce by pledging a future subscription. You won't be charged unless I enable payments.
Ok, late to the party here, but I love your description of energy drinks as "all fake-sugar-piss to me, honestly" and am going to use those exact words on my miscreant brother who is addicted to them.
826 National is my dream non-profit... other than retiring to work in a quirky London bookshop, that would also be my dream.
I need a really good psychic right now, lol.
Yesss to Me Days. Thanks for introducing me to 826 National too. What a great cause.
