Oh my... happy belated/early half bday! Sorry to hear the Thunderballs were such a bust, but I just love this sentence, "I consoled myself with a jumbo chocolate-covered strawberry from Hershey’s Chocolate World and went back to read for the rest of the night." If that isn't the perfect cure for 21st century burnout, I don't know what is :) xo
Sounds like a wonderful, regenerative bday despite white boys who can't dance. (I think it's genetic. I dance like Elaine in Seinfeld. Have you seen the Elaine dance contest video? It's hilarious.) I love the way you celebrate you!
LMAO. Yes. I've seen the Elaine Dance. LOL. Hi-lare! Enjoyed myself in spite of the fact these boys lacked Channing's rhythmic hip rolls. HOWEVER, I follow a few of the guys from the MML Australia group (one of them is a Channing doppleganger) and they're coming to my hometown next year in August!!! You can can damn well bet I'm going to that show. I've seen the clips from there shows. THAT would be worth it!
Happy belated (and early half-) birthday to you, Ororo! That sounds like such a great trip. (Except for the lack of Thunder from Down Under.) Last year, I took myself to Palm Springs for my birthday. Friends offered to come along and I politely kiboshed that for the same reason -- I *needed* time alone to refresh and recharge (and I'm shocked at how many people do not understand that). The Australian Grand Prix was on my birthday (a rare not-Sunday night race). I stumbled upon this great restaurant, had the best dinner, and had a selection of grain-free cookies and fairy cakes to go down with the race (and a split of champagne). Best. Birthday. Ever. BTW, have you seen the docuseries on Chippendales? Because you *have* to see it. I think TTFDU is an off-shoot from Chippendales. (You should watch the docuseries and then the Hulu show. It's so crazy!!!) xo
I'd heard about that show on Hulu. I no longer have a subscription, but I definitely check out that docuseries. Your birthday trip sounded wonderful! Right up my alley.
