Mind blowing indeed! My sister was a Hospice nurse for many years and is scared to death of getting dementia. She’s seen it all. Both my parents had it but weren’t in serious stages. They passed away from cancer and pneumonia instead.
I will pray for all patients and caregivers. When I was in rehab recently after pneumonia, I heard people screaming and crying at all hours of the day and night. My heart goes out to the nurses and techs who work with them daily. It’s frustrating as hell for everybody!
God bless you and your family, be sure to book a spa day and meditate. Exercise is also a great stress reliever. I’d go BS crazy in your shoes, my friend. Hang in there, sending hugs and prayers!
Whoa, my gosh... Ororo, this is so completely powerful! Massive respect for what your mom, you, and your family are navigating right now. And what an incredible resource HoV must be--I wish my dad had access to something like that. You are beyond brave. xo
What an experience - how moving and emotional I’m sure. A friend’s father is in advanced Alzheimer’s stages but currently living in an assisted living facility for Alz care. I have to say that both my parents were on hospice (for cancer) and I think it’s the most beautiful, helpful and graceful care they received. I’m truly sorry you have to watch your mom suffer. But I do hope that either your exploration of TM, or just ‘sitting, be still, and listening’ in any form of meditation or self care you choose, needs to be a priority as a caregiver. I wish you the best and want to know how it goes!
This is so interesting and eye opening! I had no idea workshops existed or that HoV was able to do all those things for patients that it does for your mom. Love learning new things especially as my own parents age, so thanks for sharing.
There are so many lessons for life in this experience, and not just for the relevance to dementia. Best wishes to your family as you all continue to navigate this treacherous path.
Wow. That must have been intense. My mom has Alzheimer’s. What a fucking journey. It’s tough. I feel for you and your family. She has had hospice for around 4 months now I think. It’s very helpful and it took a sec to wrap my head around it because I always thought it was just for the end END of life. Thanks for sharing this! I will see if I can find something similar in Amsterdam.
Wow. Just wow. Thank you for sharing this, Ororo. All I could think of when you wrote she has Lewy body is Robin Williams. Sorry. Might not be the best share. I just feeling like, [redacted], what he must have been experiencing. Sending you and yours all the good. I hope the TM helps. Look into the David Lynch stuff on it. He was a huge proponent. xo
My goodness, what an experience. Eye opening. Heart opening. All opening. This should be provided everywhere. Thank you so much for sharing this with us, Ororo.

Thanks for reading. And yes, the spa day is coming VERY soon. LOL

Call your local Hospice and ask about it. You never know, they might start using this program. God bless your dad and family!
Thank you! That really means a lot.

It truly was. I wasn't expecting that, but I'm so glad we did it. I hope you find something similar where you are.
What a fantastic workshop. I hope this is available country wide. Thx for sharing the details.
Your ma has Lewy body? 😞
It really was, and yes, unfortunately. It's what her own mother suffered from, too. :/
Sigh. So sorry. 😢

David Lynch was a huge proponent of TM as are many others, maybe most famously, The Beatles.
Funny, she mentioned Robin Williams, too! LOL
Whew! xo

#alltheopenings LOL Definitely leaves you feeling a bit raw. Thanks for reading.
